Ready to learn some new techniques and discover inspiring examples to apply in your community? Half-day or full-day workshops and mobile tours on Tuesday and Thursday will help stock your toolbox with new ideas and experiences.

Workshops

Our hands-on workshops provided critical new skills in group and meeting facilitation, storytelling, value mapping, media and communications, arts and civic engagement, high-tech/high-touch tools, leadership and youth engagement.

Continuing education credit is available for select workshops.

Online Media and Your Neighbor: Engaging and Supporting Your Community through Online Strategies

While our communities are rooted in physical places and their unique geography, technology gives us additional ways of “being together” that can complement and enhance face-to-face practices.

Theater for Civic Engagement

Walk away from this workshop with unique skills that will help you increase citizen participation with a fresh theatrical twist. By offering spaces for civic engagement through a developing performance, we will examine ensemble-created performance through an experiential process.

Around the Community Fire: Story Circles in Action

Through a series of interactive exercises, workshop participants will experience story circles and learn to design story circle projects that build trust, reveal the range of community values and foster participation in moving values to action.

Graphic Facilitation: Visual Tools for Enhancing Structured Conversation

Participants will learn about different ways to incorporate graphic icons and images and how to use visual language to enhance their note taking, meeting preparation, facilitation and follow-up.
