2010 Conference Session Detail:
CommunityMatters '10

Theater for Civic Engagement

Date:

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Time:

2:00pm-5:30pm
Theater for Civic Engagement

Civic theater is a series of events combining research, participatory activity, and artistically-focused sessions. Through interaction, civic theater allows, invites and demands community members to bring an adventurous theatricality to a focused examination of issues that matter to them. This session will offer a sequence of physical activity, solo and group work, and devising strategies that investigate the relationship between story, site, idea and event. Walk away from this workshop with unique skills that will help you increase citizen participation with a fresh theatrical twist. By offering spaces for civic engagement through a developing performance, we will examine ensemble-created performance through an experiential process. (Fee: $20)
