Keynotes & Plenaries

CM'10® was anchored by opportunities for the whole community to come together in one room for thought-provoking talks and shared experiences that provide critical perspectives on universal issues and challenges, new tools and ideas, and calls to action that inspired attendees to go home and make a difference.

Keynote Addresses

Chip Heath, Co-Author of national bestsellers Switch and Made to Stick

Why is it so hard to make lasting changes in our companies, in our communities, and in our own lives? Author and Professor Chip Heath will explore how an understanding of the mind and rationality can make lasting change possible - even when it is difficult.

Frances Moore Lappé, Author of Getting a Grip and Co-Founder of the Small Planet Institute

"Better than two anti-depressants!", Author and activist Frances Moore Lappé's closing message will leave you inspired and ready to tackle your community's biggest challenges.

Plenary Sessions

Expect Change, Seize Opportunity

America in 2050 will be a radically different nation. Three panelists will explore our changing communities from radically different perspectives (shifting demographics, landscapes, and cultural interactions) and discuss how we all need to change along with them.

Strong Communities

CommunityMatters and Ashoka's Changemakers are partnering to offer the Strong Communities: Engaging Citizens, Strengthening Place, Inspiring Change competition. The eight finalists will take the stage to share their groundbreaking community innovations and experiences in creating local change, and they'll end by asking for your vote!
