Make It Happen
The Elephant in the Community

Many communities have committees dedicated to economic improvement, transportation, parks and open space, planning and zoning, recreation or education, but few tackle these issues in an integrated way. Each group has identified one bit of the elephant, whether tail or trunk, but cannot see the entire beast. This session will focus on holistic community planning—acknowledging the existing connections between local groups and the opportunities each create, and then weaving their multi-threaded interests into cooperative solutions. Whether linking discrete issues or incorporating all aspects of a place, this session will explain what it takes to understand, and move forward, the whole elephant.

Tammie Delaney will moderate this session.
