Around the Community Fire

We gather around the fire, at the kitchen table, on our front porch, in town--wherever we come together--to share our knowledge, our wisdom, and our dreams. To be human means to tell stories. Through listening, we come to understand the rich diversity of our voices, and we strengthen our ties with the people and places of our community. We learn from one another what we value about the town—what we wish to keep and what we want to change. We begin to build a future together.

Intentional gatherings of people to share experiences and knowledge and ideas, story circles are flexible and portable, easy to design and implement and integrate into community engagement and land-use planning efforts.

Through a series of interactive exercises, workshop participants will experience story circles and learn to design story circle projects that build trust, reveal the range of community values and foster participation in moving values to action. (This workshop is included with registration.)
